If that's tempted you to try it out for yourself to see what's already available today, then you can get a three-month membership to the top tier of Microsoft's gaming subscription service, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, for just $1 / £1 - saving you over $40 / £30 off the usual price. Both Microsoft and its rival Sony are increasingly dependent on subscriptions for revenue, and the increase in Game Pass Ultimate could help with that. We're fresh off a big weekend of news at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase where it seemed like 90% of the upcoming Xbox games on show will be included as part of Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft attributes the increase to changing “competitive conditions”, but it also reflects an evolving strategy. This is the first time the price has increased since Ultimate launched in 2017. This comes just weeks after Microsoft increased the price of Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers from $15 to $17. PC Game Pass doesn’t include streaming or an EA selection but is otherwise similar. First-party titles will be available as soon as they launch, and there are members-only perks including discounts, in-game DLC, and some EA games. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes a catalog of “hundreds” of games that you can play on consoles, PCs, and through cloud gaming. You’ll then have to pay the regular monthly fee ($17 for Ultimate on console, $11 for PC), but the introductory price can get you a feel for the services without the full commitment. The company is once again running a promotion that offers the first month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $1. Microsoft may be raising the price of Xbox subscriptions in most countries, but it’s sweetening the deal for new entrants.
